Adults can join in the Summer Reading fun as well! Read for a chance on weekly gift card raffles. We have a number of exciting programs planned over the summers that are for adults.

Better Than the Book?
Come see the movie Sherlock Homes 2: A Game of Shadows (PG-13)

Friday, July 13, 7 PM
Craft Beer Tasting

Beer at the library!?  Join J.P. McCarty, founder of the Three Rivers Beer Club, home brewer, and certified beer judge, on Friday, July 13th at 7:00 PM for a beer tasting and discussion of several unique craft brews.  Everyone will get a chance to sample each of the selected beers, learn more about each selection and different styles of beer, and discuss what they like and dislike about each.  Snacks will accompany the tasting.
This event is open to patrons 21 years and older, and a fee of $15 will be charged.  Advance registration is required.

Book Talk And Signing
A Pirate for Life by Steve Blass

Steve Blass was a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates for ten years, including their 1971 World Championship.  Suddenly, after the 1972 season, Blass suffered a loss of pitching control and retired from baseball in 1974.  He is currently a broadcast announcer for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Steve Blass will visit the library on Tuesday, July 17th at 6:30 PM to discuss his new book, A Pirate for Life.  In this memoir, he discusses his baseball career, his struggles with Steve Blass Disease, and his work as a color commentator for the Pirates.  Copies of his book will be available for purchase and signing.  Registration is required.

Tuesday, July 24, 7 PM:
HANDWRITING ANALYSIS

What does your handwriting reveal about you?  The slant and size of your letters, the use of upper vs. lower case, spacing, and margins all give clues to your personality.  Diane Giel will discuss and demonstrate handwriting analysis on Tuesday, July 24th at 7:00 PM.  Registration is requested.

Friday, July 27, 6:30 PM:
Wine Tasting with John Eld

Imagine the blue water, and the beautiful sunlight reflected off Roman ruins.  This is summer in the south of France.  John Eld will introduce us to five wines from this region, ranging from full-bodied reds, to delicious roses to cool, crisp whites.  This wine tasting will be held on Friday, July 27th at 7:00 PM.  This event is open to patrons ages 21 years and older.  Advance registration is required, and a fee of $15 will be charged.

HOOPFIT AND HOOPDANCE

Remember how much fun hula hooping was?  Now that you’re an adult, it’s still fun and a terrific way to burn calories!
Join us on Tuesday, July 31st at 7:00 PM for a free demonstration of HoopFit and HoopDance. These low-impact movements will help you build core strength, enhance balance and coordination, tone the body, and reduce stress.
Give it a spin!  This program will be presented by Harlan’s Elite Fitness.  Hoops will be provided, and registration is required.
