Results of reduced funding at Northern Tier Library:
Fines / Hours
Due to cuts in public funding fines for books, magazines, music CDs and CD books have increased from $.10 to $.25. The library closing time on Thursdays has changed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Holds / Requests
2010 brings many budget cuts for Allegheny County public libraries and an ever-increasing demand for library services. Effective February 1, there will be some changes to how requests are fulfilled in an effort to manage costs and provide faster service.

Online Databases
Due to public funding cuts the "Find Articles and More" page will reflect resource changes beginning February 1, 2010. The Allegheny County Library System is working to restore or replace some of the resources that may be lost. EbscoHost (MasterFile Premier) users may now use H.W. Wilson's Omni File, located on the PA Power Library website. Please direct questions, concerns to the library reference desk at 724-449-2665 ext 25.
What Can You Do?
Take action: call, visit, write or email your local legislators. Visit the library today and fill out a pre addressed post card to send to your representative, we'll pay the postage.
Let them know your public library means to you and how the cuts hurt.
