Advocate for Northern Tier Library

State funding cuts are hurting libraries and those we serve. Shortened hours. Reduced books and other materials. Limited services.

Governor Rendell has recommended reducing library funding another $1.2 Million for 2010-2011. Proposed BudgetSave Our Libraries

What Does This Mean?

Results of reduced funding at Northern Tier Library:

Fines / Hours
Due to cuts in public funding fines for books, magazines, music CDs and CD books have increased from $.10 to $.25. The library closing time on Thursdays has changed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Holds / Requests
2010 brings many budget cuts for Allegheny County public libraries and an ever-increasing demand for library services. Effective February 1, there will be some changes to how requests are fulfilled in an effort to manage costs and provide faster service.
