ELDERHOSTEL TRAVEL
Elderhostel is a non-profit organization which provides travel and education opportunities to seniors. Join Elderhostel Ambassadors Pauline and Jim Parker on Thursday, April 16th at 10:30 AM for an informational seminar. The Parkers will talk about the many travel opportunities available, both in the United States and abroad. Registration is requested.
MOTHERS & DAUGHTERS, GROWING TOGETHER: PUBERTY FROM 10-13 YEARS
This program is designed for mothers and their daughters, ages 10-13 years. Join Dr. Kasia Sudol of Bellevue Pediatrics on Tuesday, April 28th at 7:00 PM for a discussion of: puberty, nutrition, skin care, safety, and good communication skills. Group participation is encouraged to motivate girls to take responsibility of their health and development. Registration is required.
HOW TO BUY A HOUSE
Are you thinking about buying a house? Learn the process and the pitfalls before you purchase! You will worry less, make better decisions, and will enjoy your home search more. Join realtor Don Fritsch on Thursday, April 2nd at 7:00 PM for a free, informational seminar that will prepare you for your search.

CONVERSATION SALON
Do you enjoy stimulating conversation? Interesting people gather at the Northern Tier Library on the second Thursday of each month to discuss a variety of topics and ideas. The group will meet on Thursday, April 9th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Seniors and their companions are invited to join us for the lively exchange of ideas and the art of good conversation.
APRIL COMPUTER CLASSES
Buying A Computer - Monday, April 6, 12:00-2:00 PM
In this class you'll learn how to read those crazy computer ads, handle slick salespeople, and discover helpful resources to aid you in your purchase of a personal computer.
Information Literacy, Advanced Internet - Tuesday, April 14, 12:00-2:00 PM
Learn how to search, not just surf, the Internet. This class assists in developing a critical approach to searching, making effective and efficient use of specific information tools and sources. The goal is to create lifelong learners - people who are able to find, evaluate, and use Internet information to effectively solve problems or make decisions.
Prerequisite- Learn the Internet or solid WWW experience.
Intermediate Word - Monday, April 20, 12:00-2:00 PM
Got the basics down? Take your skills to the next level in this class. You’ll learn special touches like setting margins, line spacing, and page numbering, plus how to use borders, columns and clip art.
Prerequisite - Introduction to Word or solid Word experience.
Intermediate Excel - Monday, April 27, 12:00-2:00 PM
Are you ready for the next level? This class includes absolute references, basic functions, charts, and adding comments to a cell.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Excel or solid Excel experience.
PILATES
A six week series of Pilates will be held on Tuesdays, April 7-May 12, 6:30-7:15 PM. The fee for the series is $30, or you can pay as you go (space permitting) for $7 per session.
FICTION CRITIQUE GROUP
If you're a writer ready for publication and just need some good input from your peers to polish your fiction, we're the group for you. The Northern Tier Fiction Critique Group is looking for a few good writers to join us at our twice-monthly meetings. We critique novels and short stories with an eye toward helping local writers achieve publication. The group will meet at the library on Monday, April 13th at 6:30 PM. STUDENT HELP NEEDED!
Students are needed on Thursday, April 16th at 3:00 PM to help lift and move boxes of books in preparation for the book sale set-up.
We will also need help packing up the leftovers, breaking down the tables, and with general clean-up on Monday evening, April 27th, from 7:30-9:30 PM. Students are eligible to receive Community Service hours for their work. Please contact Nancy Brenza at nbrenza@hotmail.com or call 724-625-1877 to volunteer.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR BOOK SALE
Help is needed to unpack and set up for our annual Book Sale. We will be working Friday, April 17; Saturday, April 18; and Monday, April 20 during regular library hours. KNIT LIT
Knitters, crocheters (and those who would like to be either one!) are welcome to join our group. We will meet at the library on Thursday, April 30th at 7:00 PM. If you are working on a project, bring it along with you. If you would like to learn, just bring some yarn and we'll teach you how! We’ll also talk about some of the books we've enjoyed lately - please join us.
BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP
The Northern Tier Library Book Discussion Group meets on the last Thursday of each month to discuss various works of fiction and non-fiction. You are invited to join us on Thursday, April 30th at 10:00 AM for a discussion of In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. Discussions are informal and open to the public. Please join us, and bring a friend.
